Dear friends,
Thank you for responding so generously over the last few days for our request for funds to keep our mobile billboard campaign commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Nakba going strong. As a result of your donations, we were able to extend our advertising campaign through last night and our billboard was prominently circling the Washington Convention Center as thousands of attendees at AIPAC’s 2008 Policy Conference gathered to hear Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert speak.
I wish that you could have been driving in the truck with me last night to see the stunned expressions on the faces of the AIPAC conference attendees as our giant 10×22 foot billboard circled their gala banquet. I’m sure that we succeeded in making many attendees lose their appetite when they were forced to confront the message of our ad reminding them that the state for which they blindly advocate was founded through an act of ethnic cleansing.
While riding around in the truck last night, I had the opportunity to speak with our driver who told me about the fascinating reaction he got to the ad when he drove around Capitol Hill earlier in the day when AIPAC conference attendees were meeting with their Members of Congress. Our driver has driven trucks with mobile ads all over the length of the Eastern Seaboard for years and he told me that he has NEVER seen a reaction to a mobile billboard campaign like the one we generated this past week. He told me about groups of hundreds of AIPAC conference attendees, Capitol Hill staff, and police who stood slack-jawed in disbelief when they saw our ad roll by. He said that he has never seen so many people take pictures of a mobile billboard ad before in his career.
So thank you once again for your generous donation to help make this advertising campaign a huge success by educating thousands of people about Palestinian dispossession. In upcoming weeks, we’ll be putting together a short documentary of our mobile ad campaign and we’ll be sure to show it to you as soon as it’s ready.
Thank you once again for your commitment and dedication.
In solidarity,
-josh
