Google featured this red ribbon and linked it to pages retrieved when “World AIDS Day” is put into the search engine. It’s gone now but strident efforts to misinform remain intact.
The theme of World AIDS Day this year is Women, Girls, HIV and AIDS. According to Kofi Annan, “57 percent of the adults with HIV are women.”
“Today, the face of AIDS is increasingly young and female,” said Peter Piot, head of UNAIDS.
He said prevention methods such as ABC — which stands for “Abstinence, Be faithful and use Condoms” — are helpful, but laws must be passed against domestic abuse and rape and to ensure property rights for women to make them more secure and less vulnerable to HIV.
The Human Rights Campaign had this to say about a report released yesterday by Rep. Henry Waxman that finds “curricula used to teach abstinence-only-until-marriage contain false and misleading information.”
HRC Political Director Winnie Stachelberg appeared before the National Press Club yesterday (view via C-Span) to speak about HRC’s World AIDS Day Report Card, a first for the organisation, and the results are dismal. HRC maintains that the ‘F’ grade in prevention is one that correlates with Rep. Waxman’s report.
George, likely brandishing a cowboy hat the size of Texas, will preside over lighting of the Christmas tree in D.C. today. Reflect if you will upon a nation that is allegedly second-to-none in all matters, coercing its citisens and others around the world into adopting this campaign of misinformation, that will certainly result in furthering the spread of AIDS and other maladies.
Merry Xmas to you, too, murderers. This goes well beyond ideology. In this case, their only purpose can be the intentional eradication of the most vulnerable in societies.
