God is still speaking,

“Never place a period where God has placed a comma.”

Gracie Allen

R.G. links to an article featured on 365Gay.com about NBC and CBS refusing to air this 30-second television advertisement. The United Church of Christ, according to the article, remains widely unknown despite their long history of activism:

The UCC has a long reputation for welcoming gays and lesbians. Although its individual churches are mostly autonomous, many offer blessing services for same-sex couples. In 1972 it became the first mainstream denomination to ordain an openly gay man.

The Church, which dates back to Pilgrim times, has had a long history of social activism including staging the nation’s first act of civil disobedience that inspired the “Boston Tea Party” (1773) and hiding the Liberty Bell when the British occupied Philadelphia (1777).

The ad began airing Dec. 1, and will be shown thru the 26th, on those network and cable stations that accepted it. To learn more and get the addresses for NBC and CBS you’ll find information here.

Their reason for refusing to air the ad? It is “too controversial” during a time when the gov’t is lobbying for a constitutional ban against gay marriage.

So long free speech, we hardly knew ye.
