I’ve been reading for several months now the words of people whose opinions I respect stating that 4-more-years of incestuous malfeasance under the paternalistic mind-fuck delivered by George and his quasi-moralistic bandits is preferable to the alleged alliance-rebuilding goals of John Kerry. The reasoning goes that global hatred of Bush and his administration’s affinity for smashing alliances will hasten the end of U.S. imperialism. Kerry would only prolong the inevitable.
I take issue with the consensus that Kerry would possess much leverage in this regard. We’re not talking about a man who intends to deviate from the shared goals of this duopoly. The State of Israel’s ethnic-cleansing of Palestinians has his unconditional support, Iraq and Afghanistan will be governed as the United States dictates so long as the parties can maintain populist hysteria supportive of this fantasy, the Caucasus under the policies of George Soros, Spencer Abraham, and their ilk will continue full-steam ahead regardless of who is plopped behind the steering wheel of this vehicle of mass destruction we sheepishly refer to as a beacon of democracy, and woe to Africa. What’s the fix?
What could Kerry possibly offer to mend these alliances that would cause the EU to abandon the euro or their NATO-realignment initiatives, defer to U.S. their plans to cash in on the burgeoning growth potential and energy needs of China, or convince them that exposing their flanks to threats that would loom from supporting U.S. imperialism is a good thing? The Bushites embrace this great disconnect as anti-George when in fact it is self-preservation. Old allies will continue on these paths because independence from Uncle Sam’s clutches is in their national interests and continuing to starve the beast remains their best hope towards achieving it.
It seems to me that in the short-term a Kerry presidency with a Republican Congress would prove more usefull in staying decisions that result in the deaths of even more innocents here and abroad than an unbridled monopoly of the branches by the current maniacs. They would at least be forced to keep up appearances there’s a difference between them and in the interim the public might find themselves upon avenues of information partisan-induced allergies have kept them from pursuing.
A mandate might hasten America’s demise but keeping the numbers buried beneath its rubble as low as possible should be priority. I think that’s the case they’re making. I just don’t follow the reasoning.
What do I know. I consider this art. (If this link isn’t working and you want the file I can e-mail a copy. It’s too large to upload.)
