I noticed through sitemeter that someone from the Pentagon visited here yesterday via Google searching for the alleged speech given by General Abizaid at the Naval War College. The transcript has yet to make an online appearance. Was the Pentagon Googling to find it or just monitoring the spin?
It’s no surprise that the ban on torture is a ruse, otherwise why go to the trouble of empyting out the torture chambers in Europe and relocating the victims to North Africa? There is nothing new about the message being sent by the U.S. which is do as we say, not as we do. The Nation has a torture spread worth the trouble reading, including a fascinating piece on the not-so-great legal minds who promote the ticking bomb theory. Too bad the clock on Bush’s impeachment isn’t running.
