Intolerance grows as Orthodox Jews terrorise Messianic Jews and Christian evangelicals

Or Yehuda Residents & Students Burn New Testament
May 20, 2008

Backed by Shas officials, students from Or Yehuda yeshivas gathered hundreds of copies of the new testament along with missionary materials, which were later taken to a central location in the city and set ablaze last Thursday night.

A vehicle with a loudspeaker made its way down N’vei Rabin Street, calling on secular Jews to bring the copies of the new testament and other materials given to them by the messianic Jews, which were later set ablaze.

The news of the event has made its way to the mainstream media, not necessarily in a positive light, seeking to make comparisons of non religious Jews or people of other faiths setting Jewish holy books ablaze. Some secularists questioned the wisdom of the decision to burn the books as well as the “moral values” of those involved.

Shas officials in Or Yehuda explain that missionaries are working with fervor in the city, which they point out is against Israeli law.

Missionaries draw fire in Israel
Burning of 200 New Testament bibles underscores growing tensions in the Jewish state between the mainstream religion and Christian Zionists.

By Robert W. Gee, Austin-American Statesman, 15 June 2008

“There’s a growing intolerance,” said Calev Myers, a lawyer who represents Messianic Jews.

In March, the 15-year-old son of the leader of a Messianic congregation in the West Bank settlement of Ariel was injured when a package left at the front door of the family home exploded as he opened it.

The boy, Ami Ortiz, is still in a hospital, awaiting multiple surgeries, according to his father, David Ortiz, who holds American and Israeli citizenship.

Over the past two years, a chess club owned by Messianic Jews in the southern city of Arad was burned, and a Messianic baptism in Beersheva was interrupted by a group of Orthodox Jews who carried the pastor into the baptismal pool. In Jerusalem, the Baptist House, home to Messianic and evangelical congregations, was firebombed. It was empty at the time.

No one has been arrested in any of the cases.

Dutch Jewish group slams card of Anne Frank in kaffiyeh
    By Cnaan Liphshiz
    January 28, 2008

A Dutch Jewish organization last week condemned the distribution of a postcard showing a manipulated image of Anne Frank wearing a Palestinian kaffiyeh, calling it “a tasteless falsification of history.” The company that published the postcard described it as “an idyllic image of peace.”

The Hague-based Centre For Information and Documentation on Israel (CIDI) called on cinemas, cafes and other businesses to ban the postcard, which has been distributed for the past two weeks free of charge across the Netherlands by T-shirt and postcard maker Boomerang.

“In Holland, Anne Frank is a distinct symbol of the Holocaust and persecution,” CIDI’s public relations coordinator, Tuvit Shlomi, told Haaretz. “The red-and-white kaffiyeh symbolizes Palestinian resistance to the Israeli occupation. We find this link offensive, false and unacceptable.”

In a press release about the postcard, CIDI said the image suggested the Palestinians were persecuted like the Jews during World War II. “Israel and the Palestinians are engaged in a conflict. The Palestinians are not persecuted, there are no extermination camps and there is no genocide,” CIDI wrote.

Boomerang’s chief editor, Pascale Bosboom, told Haaretz that the artist responsible for the image – who is known only as T. – combined the two symbols “to create an idealistic image in which both states exist alongside one another in peace.”

In its official announcement, Boomerang said it agrees with CIDI that the historical connection CIDI mentioned “must not be made.” Boomerang, the statement said, recognizes that the fate of the Jews in the Netherlands during World War II is nothing like that of the Palestinians.

  2. Hello,
I don’t know who did the violent act, so I can’t comment on it. I do reject the bomb!
    The public perception is superficial.

Christians are promoting the Roman-Hellenist” Jesus”, ], which even the Interpreter’s Dictionary of the Bible has acknowledged was accomplished through tens of thousands of misojudaic redactions in the NT. Torah says that the Jews has an eternal Covenant with Hasheim – the Creator – and they shall never listen to prophets that removes or adds commandments from the Torah (see Devarim (some translate it Deuteronomy) 13:1-6). These Christian organisations practices Torah selectively and are trying to deceive Jews to practice Torah selectively.

If you want to learn about the Historical Ribi Yehoshua, whom Orthodox Jews can live with (witness the Netzarim Jews in Raanana, Israel, members in good standing in an Orthodox synagogue), you must start with books like How Jesus Became Christian by Prof. Barrie Wilson (most bookstores) and Who Are The Netzarim? (publ. http://www.schuellerhouse.com) by Israeli Orthodox Jew, Paqid Yirmeyahu Ben-David.

Anders – Are you saying that Christian-based organisations should be forbidden from proselytising because their beliefs are based in lies but terrorising them with bombs is carrying it too far? And what aspect of public perception do you feel is superficial? That Israelis are disturbed by these events?
