Resistance Leader in Honduras Assassinated

Declaration by the Frente Popular En Contra el Golpe de Estado: Roger Ivan Bado, trade unionist, member of the leftist party the UD, assassinated in his home on Saturday, July 11th.

Ayer sábado 11 de Julio a eso de las 8:00 de la noche fue asesinado el compañero Roger Iván Bados en la Colonia 6 de Mayo, sector Rivera Hernández, por hombres armados que llegaron a asesinarlo a su casa de habitación. Roger Bados, como le conocíamos, ha sido militante activo del Bloque Popular en el Valle de Sula, destacado miembro del partido Unificación Democrática (UD), muy reconocido por su beligerancia en la década de los ochenta como dirigente del desaparecido Sindicato de Trabajadores de Textiles de Honduras (SITRATEXHONSA), miembro de la Candidatura Independiente Popular como regidor a la Corporación Municipal de la ciudad de San Pedro Sula, defensor de los derechos y causas justas del pueblo hondureño trabajador y militante de todas las manifestaciones de resistencia desarrolladas en los últimos 13 días realizadas en esta ciudad contra el golpe de estado ocurrido el pasado 28.

Saturday, July 11 at 8pm, compañero Roger Ivan Bados was assassinated by armed men who came to his home for that purpose. Roger Bados, has been an active member of the Popular Block (Bloque Popular) in the Valley of Sula, an outstanding member of the Democratic Unficiation Party (UD), very recognized for his combativeness in the 80’s, as a leader of the now defunct, Union of Textile Workers of Honduras (SITRATEXHONSA), a member of the Independent Popular Candidacy on the Council of the Municipal Corporation of the City of San Pedro Sula, defender of the rights and just causes of the Honduran people, a worker for and activist in all the demonstrations of resistence organized in the last 13 days in this city against the coup d’etat that occurred on the 28th.

Viva Palestina US Update #3 — Please Distribute Widely

Viva Palestina Convoy update #3
July 12, 2009, 7 pm Cairo

The Viva Palestina members who spent the night in their buses at the Suez Crossing after they were stopped by Egyptian authorities on July 11 are now making their way to the nearby city of Ismailia and are preparing to resume their travels toward Gaza imminently.

British Member of Parliament George Galloway, who has met up with former U.S. Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney in Cairo, was working with Egyptian and U.S. authorities to expedite the passage of the convoy over the Suez Canal and into Gaza.

New York City Councilmember Charles Barron, who led the group at the Suez Canal, says, “Whether these requirements are genuine or not, we will get around these obstacles. “We are going to Gaza.”

Viva Palestina US Update — Please Distribute Widely

Viva Palestina US update — July 11, 2009

The largest ever US humanitarian aid convoy is now gathering in Egypt to head across the border into Gaza on Monday, July 13.

Vehicles are coming from Alexandria, the medical supplies from Cairo and the advanced party of nearly 100 US citizens is heading for the staging post of Al Arish, just before the border with Gaza.

That group, of four buses, has, however, been stopped from crossing over the Suez Canal and into the Sinai region, which leads to Gaza.
