If I Might BE SO BOLD

In the previous post, Arundhati Roy is quoted from her book The Checkbook and the Cruise Missile as saying she believes there are Americans who are straining to hear the whispering of the world above the “roar of being at the heart of American empire.”

I agree. But they’re not in the “red” states who will only grow stronger on their mighty mandate and never convert. They’re the sad and downhearted Democrats who are still shaking their heads and wondering why no one likes them anymore.

And they are the approximately 40% of eligible voters who couldn’t be bothered to register an opinion. I don’t really blame them. But before you settle in for yet another four-years of moaning about the policies of the Bush reich and letting the dem loyalists convince you that if you only hang in there we’ll get ’em next time, consider this.

The “New Donkey” will be the same ass that lost the last two elections for you, and will remain the creatures who were behind the disastrous policies championed by the neoliberal they kept in office for 8-years during the nineties. Now you can stick with them as they scratch their ears and confabulate excuses for you to go even further right with them but you will destroy what’s left our liberal democracy if you do.

What happened? The truth was missing from this election and it will never make an appearance unless you demand it, champion it, fund it now, and never let it go.

My advise? Abandon the money-changers at the DLC and their minions and seek out and support, starting today, an evangelist for truth. Put all of the resources you give to Move On, Act for Change, etc., or double it but give half, to someone who truly represents the vision of America that is slipping through your fingers.

Hang in there with me one more moment. What if we were to take the best of the Rove strategy, putting out a candidate who resonates with people on a gut-level, a likeable character that people can develop, excuse my jargon, “hero worship” for, but one who speaks the truth to Americans instead of calculated horseshit.

Put all of your resources into keeping this person in the mainstream media for the next four-years as they call both parties out on their absence of common sense and outright deceptions. Actively build support for this candidate over the course of the next four-years, starting now, and culminating with their candidacy on Nov. 2, 2008.

Isn’t that something to consider?

To give you an example of the sort of person I have in mind.
