The Bush administration would be foolish to make a summer blockbuster of the trial of Saddam. I think it will put the United States in an even worse light than it is now, if that’s possible, since it would be nothing more than a sham filled with deception and politicisation. It might be a source of cheap thrills for a delusional American audience but it would create even more anger and resentment against the United States from the victims. And if that’s the goal it’s a terrible one.
