David Mullins makes his living as a breeder and consignor, but he may have found a second calling as a political activist.
Mullins, who operates Doninga Bloodstock and Doninga Farm in Lexington, has distributed 500 bumper stickers bearing the message “Smarty Jones For President,” with a picture of the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Preakness Stakes (G1) winner. He ordered 1,000 more this week to meet a surprising demand.
Mullins has no official connection to Smarty Jones or owners Roy and Pat Chapman or trainer John Servis. He is simply an admirer.
