How much for a one-way ticket to Palookaville?

Is it too much to hope that, where George Tenet goes, George Bush will follow? How many lawyers will George be consulting? The Center for American Progress profiles the lawyer he’s consulted so far, James E. Sharp.

The Senate has decided that giving Bush free-reign over $2.5 billion is equivalent to “clamping down” on his spending. Don’t spend it all in one place! Where is the evidence even remotely suggesting that, left to his own devices, George chooses his causes well? Were they worried if he wasn’t given an allowance the cowboy would “borrow” his way into impeachment?

Or is the Senate simply not as serious about retaining oversight as they claim to be?

The House bill assigned much of the money to detailed accounts, like $320 million for small arms and other combat equipment, making the money difficult to shift. The Senate gave Bush more leeway than Congress normally provides by aiming most of the money at broad programs, like $14.5 billion for Army operations and maintenance.
