GAZA, May 17 (Xinhuanet) —
Dozens of Israeli army tanks, bulldozers and armored vehicles stormed on Monday morning the northeastern parts of the town of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, Palestinian security sources reported.
The forces, backed by Apache attack helicopters, fired intensivehelling (sic) at the area as bulldozers razed a wide area of cultivated area belonging to Palestinian farmers.
The residents said that Israeli military Apache helicopters fired a number of rockets at Palestinian targets near the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah.
Palestinian sources said that the Israeli Apache helicopters heavily shelled Palestinian targets near the Sofa passage, located on the eastern borders pf (sic) the strip.
Witnesses said that explosions were heard all over Khan Younis and Rafah, adding that it was impossible to know if there were any injuries or casualties due to the Israeli military closure imposed on the area.
