In anticipation of Tim Russert hitting George Bush with tough questions about his service record [quit laughing] on this morning’s Meet the Press, I have a nagging suspicion I’d like addressed.
I first heard of it while transcribing the Linda Starr interview for the book “The Awakening Of An American: How My Country Broke My Heart.”
Starr mentions it in this article.
From the interview I transcribed:
p.126:
He [Daniel James] has multiple lawsuits that have been filed against him by individuals for sexual harassment, anti-semitism, discrimination, four or five of these lawsuits that are just terrible. He and George Bush have been directly implicated in a criminal fraud against the government for falsifying readiness reports and, yet, he’s been nominated by George Bush to be put in charge as Director of the Air National Guard.
Major General Daniel James was head of the Texas National Guard at the time of the alleged scrubbing of George W. Bush’s National Guard records. He was appointed by George W. Bush to be commander of the nation’s Air National Guard — and was confirmed by the Senate last week.
In light of this awkward information I think Mr. Russert should at least inquire of George if the promotion of James was some sort of payback for services rendered, i.e., covering up the evidence that George failed to render his.
I wouldn’t expect an honest answer, but the reaction could make television history.
