Bremer has announced plans to expand the US-led occupation authority with the appointment of two deputies to oversee the disbursement of the recently approved $20 billion to private American contractors. Bremer claims this will free him up to work on an Iraq constitution.
Interesting to me are the responsibilites Bremer’s designated for U.S. Army Lt. General, Ret., Joseph Kellogg:
Kellogg, the former commanding general of the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the occupation authority, including the training of new Iraqi security forces and the reconstruction of the oil and electricity sectors.
Kellogg is a highly decorated veteran who hasn’t exactly been sitting on his laurels since retiring from the Army where he “served as Director of command, control, communications, and computers (C4), J-6, for The Joint Staff.”
In July of this year, Kellogg joined Oracle, the Redwood Shores, Calif., software firm, as senior vice president of homeland security solutions.
If he takes stock option tips from Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, his new position should be a very profitable one.
Then on October 29, 2003, the commerical e-commerce and reseller GTSI announced the election of Kellogg to its Board of Directors. GTSI has the war on terrorism to thank for its rags to something near riches story.
I expect that story is about to add a very profitable chapter.
