Blogging Notes

I’ve been busy reading reactions to this article which targets conservatives who have been speaking out against the Bush administration, labelling them as anti-Americans who have strayed from the fold.

For further reading check out this comments thread on Reason’s website in reaction to Michael Medved’s charge that Libertarians, among other vapid insults, “cheapen whole definition of politics”.

And if you haven’t yet, be sure to catch James Bovard’s C-Span interview on Booknotes. There’s good reason he named AntiWar.com as one of the few sites he visits daily, and obvious reason why Libertarians and Liberventionists have cause to disagree. That some conservatives would seek to smear and silence those who define the differences is not surprising. The blowback is fire in the belly reaction worth your trouble to review.

If Jack Wheeler wants observant conservatives like Paul Craig Roberts to quit making accusations about proposed genocide of Arabs perhaps nutters like Trent Lott should stop giving them the ammunition:

Excerpt:

“Honestly, it’s a little tougher than I thought it was going to be,” Lott said. In a sign of frustration, he offered an unorthodox military solution: “If we have to, we just mow the whole place down, see what happens. You’re dealing with insane suicide bombers who are killing our people, and we need to be very aggressive in taking them out.”
