Reason Overboard

Needed: A sense of irony and a clue – Amy Welborn notes that burning the Pope in effigy “is not an effective way to argue against someone who has questioned your religion’s relationship to violence.” (via)

I find it ironic when people denigrate the comprehension skills of Muslims who were offended by what they surmised to be a burning of Mohammed at the media stake, whilst they simultaneously praise Benedict for not being “politically correct.”

Clue: You can’t have it both ways. If you believe Ratzinger intended to condemn all of Islam you cannot ridicule Muslims who agree with your assessment.

If the infallible pontif purged his own house of the practitioners of liberation theology the Vatican would collapse. Why should Muslims be better Catholics than his followers have yet to realise?
