things that go bump in the night

Arundhati Roy addressed the American Sociological Association in San Francisco on August 16, 2004. You can watch/listen at Democracy NOW!.

9/11 truth activist Michael Kane breaks down Chapter 1 of the 9/11 report.

The passengers on IA Flight 814

Jenny Moore was the sole American passenger on the plane al Qaeda linked terrorists hijacked (IC-814 hijack crisis) and her presence on the flight is the excuse used by the FBI for not sharing information with India’s CBI in this ongoing investigation. Who is Jenny Moore? If her harrowing escape was front page news where is the cache? Where are the personal interviews, the follow-ups, the product endorsements?

I ran an alternative spelling (Vakil Ahmed Muttawakeel) for former Taliban foreign minister Wakil Ahmed Muttawakil through the 9/11 final report’s search engine. No results.

Apparently evildoers tricked the Iraqi footballers into giving Mr. Bush a tongue lashing for using them as props in an election ad the Olympic committee is reviewing for copyright infringement.

Mark Clark, the spokesman for the Iraqi Olympic squad in Athens, accused journalists of taking advantage of the players. “They are not very sophisticated politically. Whoever posed these questions knew the answers would be negative. It is possible something was lost in translation. The players are entitled to their opinions but we are disappointed,” he said.

News Advisory:

Change of Regime in Iran; Group to Hold Press Conference at National Press Club, August 24

Dr. Ahura Pirouz Khaleghi Yazdi, on behalf of people of Iran, will hold a press conference at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday August 24, 2004 at the National Press Club (529 14th Street, N.W. Washington D.C. 20045) to discuss change of regime in Iran, and the international implications of such change. Dr. Yazdi will further discuss how such change would free Iran, and how it would mark a significant step forward in the battle against terrorism, worldwide.

I don’t know who this Dr. Ahura Yazdi is or what steps he believes Iranians will welcome in the name of regime change. Can someone help me out?

Sorry, for the wrong spelling. It’s been a long day. Please read as “PUBLICLY”

  7. Diane says:

    Hi Tony,

Are you saying you believe the Iranian people want what Iraqis now have?

It’s obvious Dr. Yazdi wants it but he doesn’t live in Iran and has a vested interest in furthering this regime change along as quickly as possible. Are you familiar with his project Air-Iraq?

Apparently the 36 days (now 35) refers to Yazdi’s return to Iran on October 1 for the “Mehregan Festival.” He has invited all Iranians to go with him “to remove the Terrorist Regime using Good Words, Good Thoughts and Good Deeds and to launch a Free, Open and Democratic referendum.”

  9. Tony Pickert says:

Yes. Something like 30 planes are chartered for October to fly into Iron over several days. A worldwide plan is in effect. Here is a paste from AHURA.info
A call to free Iran from theocratic despotism and to end terrorism worldwide

We call on all those who are dedicated to the cause of freedom and human dignity, all political parties and all organizations that support the legitimate aspirations of the people of Iran for institutionalization of democracy, to join us in our quest to uphold the following principles as our guide towards establishment of democracy in Iran.

1- The removal from power of the theocratic regime in Iran and complete separation of religion from the affairs of the state.

2- Self determination for the people of Iran. Support the national movement of the people of Iran in their political, cultural, and social struggle toward freedom, progress, social justice, and national sovereignty.

3- Set the conditions for a free and fair national referendum, through which the people of Iran will be free to materialize their democratic aspirations and to choose their future form of government in a democratic manner.

4- Freedom, prosperity, and dignity for Iran within its territorial integrity without seeking revenge.

5- Complete guaranty for the full restoration of women’s right in Iran in accordance with the universal declaration of human rights. Elimination of all forms of discrimination against the women of Iran.

6- Freedom of Speech and freedom of self_ expression. Every Iranian is entitled to freedom of speech and freedom of self _expression to share differing views and opinions, even when contrary to popular or majority belief, free from any absolute power of government to suppress or censor the same. Even unpopular _expression should be protected from absolute government suppression or censorship.

7- Freedom of press, petition & assembly.
Iranians are entitled to assemble, form political organizations and have the opportunity to petition their government to communicate and express their thoughts and opinions. In the same manner, all Iranians are entitled to receive and circulate information through a free press that is protected from absolute government suppression or censorship.

    8- Equality before the law.
The right to be treated equally before the law, regardless of political position, social status, religion, gender, and ethnicity.

9- Freedom of, and freedom from, religion.
The right to exercise one’s own religious beliefs, or the lack thereof, free from any government regulation, influence, or compulsion.

    10- Privacy.
The right to be free of unwarranted and unwanted government intrusion into one’s personal and private beliefs, affairs, papers, and possessions.

Finally, due to its rich cultural heritage, the people of Iran detest all forms of violence as instruments to advance political goals. Iranians have no interest in terrorism in any and all forms or shapes.

  10. Diane says:

    Tony,

I’m not sure what your “yes” reply is in reference to but it seems to be concerning this October visit to Iran.

If so, I wonder if you could answer the question I posed in the previous post, which is, what leads you to believe that Iranians would welcome regime change as the Iraqis are currently experiencing it?

Do you suppose there will be great suspicion on the part of the Iranian people of any actions taken by the U.S. gov’t to extend this mayhem into Iran, not only due the mess they’ve made of their illegal occupation of Iraq, but in light of the terrible consequences of the last coup engineered by the U.S. in Iran?

Considering Yazdi’s involvement with Air Iraq, which according to his site has a contract approved by the U.S. gov’t to establish air service in Iraq and boasts ties to DynCorp, is this mass visit intended to be regarded as a provocation of war by the Iranian gov’t? Do you believe this is a logical and reasonable action to take at this time of great unrest in Iraq?

Will the passenger list be a matter of public record?

  11. Hamid says:

Why they dident show all those reporter in that conferenc. And just one microfon in a international conferenc. It was a chip jokke

  12. Diane says:

Do you think Dr. Yazdi confers with this person?

Do you think this trip will free Iran? How?

  15. mani says:

He must be the man to stand against these bloody mullahs.
I personally as an Iranian who is seeking for freedom can say that Mr. Ahura yazdi you are the one and god bless you.

  16. Diane says:

    Hi Mani,

Why is he the one and why now? Can you tell me more?

  17. Kambiz says:

To all Iranian that are concern about Islamic republic and Dr. Yazdi…

People of Iran decided they want an Islamic government and few months ago they proved that once again they support the choosen government. Now Who the hell is Dr. Yazdi to try to change that? If you like to fight for Iran & Iranian why you are living in US? That is including all other Iranian outside of the country which try to free Iran! Please stop embarressing rest of us with these foolish statements.

If you really believe in Dr. Yazdi and his Hakha then I urge you to travel with him on October 1st, 2004 to Iran & let the “Sepahe pasdaran” deal with you because you are dumber than people whom believe in “Velayete Faghiee”…

    My 2 cents

  18. Iranian says:

    Hi
I believe in Dr.Yazdi because I am a member of his team, but U know that when a plan is programming we can’t tell everything now, U will see in about 18 days , U will see a free Iran with out any war ,…

  19. ali says:

Kambiz Joon, save your 2 cents and buy yourself some books.. Dr Yazdi is not changing the government, he is giving us new hope and self confidence. He has started a movement (a jonbesh) for the Iranians in Iran to change their own country. Where the hell you get the Iranians in US from..obviously you are uneducated and misinformed. Since, student leaders in Iran are prosecuted when they speak out, its important for exiled Iranians to help from abroad, through various media. Iranians did not choose the Islamic republic, they wanted democracy, and they have prooved it by voting for reformers in the past decade. Obviously that process has brought only small change, there needs to be a peaceful change in government. Kambiz joon, dont be a hater… be a nationalist, love your country and countrymen where ever they live. Sepah pasdaran are part of the movement and they are on the peoples side.

  20. Diane says:

    Ali and Iranian,

I am very ashamed that my country put you in the mess you’re in today. I sincerely hope you’re not headed for an even worse situation.

  21. Iranian says:

    Diane

Be sure Iran is the Next, Iran will be free , it will be paradise , Dr.Yazdi knows what to do

  22. FT Article says:

US debates military strikes on ‘nuclear Iran’

The Bush administration’s warnings that it will not “tolerate” a nuclear-armed Iran have opened up a lively policy debate in Washington over the merits of military strikes against the Islamic republic’s nuclear programme.

Analysts close to the administration say military options are under consideration, but have not reached a level of seriousness that indicate the US is preparing actual action.

When asked, senior officials repeat that President George W. Bush is removing no option from the table – but that he believes the issue can be solved by diplomatic means.

    Diplomacy on Wednesday appeared stalled.

The US and its European allies on the board of the International Atomic Energy Agency continued to wrangle over the wording of a resolution on Iran which insists it has no intention of using its advanced civilian programme to make a bomb.

Gary Schmitt, executive director of the Project for the New American Century (PNAC), a neo-conservative think-tank, says that with “enough intelligence and spadework”, the US could “do a good job” of slowing Iran’s programme for a while.

But, he cautions, the Bush administration would need a “game plan” for the aftermath.

That long-term approach is lacking, analysts say, and has floundered in the debate over “regime change”.

Asked whether Israel would take military action if the US dithered, Mr Schmitt replied: “Absolutely. No government in Israel will let this pass ultimately.”

Tom Donnelly, an analyst with PNAC and the American Enterprise Institute, says that while inflicting military damage is possible, the consequences rule out this option.

If the US started down the military road, it would have to consider going the whole way to invasion and occupation.

“We have to start thinking in terms of a post-nuclear Iran,” he said, describing the Europeans as “hopeless” on Iran, and India and China boosting their energy relations with the clerical regime.

Henry Sokolski, head of the Nonproliferation Policy Education Center, says the US and its allies are in a state of denial, that it is too late to stop Iran from getting the bomb. It already has the capacity, he says.

Neither of the US and European options “to bomb or bribe Iran” would succeed and both could make it worse.

Mr Sokolski describes as “highly irresponsible” the idea that the US can let Israel do the job.

The short-term benefits of air strikes would have to be weighed against the costs of a blow to US efforts to foster more moderate Islamic rule in Iran and the Middle East.

  23. Diane says:

    Iranian,

You say Iran is next. What country was first? What model are you hoping to copy?

  24. shaz3e says:

Dr. Ahura Yazdi’s so called plan to free Iran and somehow dissipate the current government seems to me as if it is just a measuring tool. It is used to measure support and popularity of any foreign democratic movement to be implemented in Iran. Fantasy? To fly thirty commercial planes full of peolple into a country where there is no mercy and murder is a crime that is not persecuted against. What do you imagine a bunch of savages like the ones holding the current govt will do? Sit there and watch ? No
most definitely not and dont you think that maybe, largely due to the publicizing of this plan of liberation wouldnt it make sense that they are preparing for this to some degree although I can imagine they are laughing, believe me, if i had one wish it would be for this government to be removed and Dr. Yazdi’s plan to work for Iran but realisticly I have my doubts.

  25. Iranian says:

    Diane

There is not any copying of any country …. Iran is next means that Iran is next Step of changing … not copying from IRaq or Afghanistan or … FROM WEDNESDAY IRAN WILL STOP OIL PRUDICING …. and 14 days later Islamic Republic will go … you will see 😉

Thanks for the link to your commentary. Now I’m even more curious how someone who holds his beliefs could have been given a contract to run an airline in Iraq.

Thanks for all of the “2 cents”. I’ve learned a lot from them. Apologies for the delays in getting them posted.

We can not allow these sons of Mullahs to interfere with the movement and the opportunity that has been created for us by Dr. Yazdi, even if you do not support Dr. Yazdi.
I hope to see my motherland free from Islam and all the misery it brought with it.

Sweet dreams… Iranian always thinks they are the best at everything and reality is we are always the last! We corrupted Kings and Mullahs what makes you think we can hold on democracy like others? Do you live in Iran? Do you know what is going on here? Everybody stealing whatever they can like there is no tomorrow… We stick our heads under snow like turkey and pretend nothing is happening. What happened on 28th of Mordad? Where were people when you needed them the most? Watching, standing and watching!

my 2 cents means “my opinion” It’s not a cool statement it’s an expression i.e. “sheh margeteh”! Looking forward to hear back from you Nazanin!

  41. Hamid Reza says:

    Dear friends,
I have to admit, it’s been interesting reading about all this without much background knowledge of Dr. Yazdi and this so called “movement”. I am an Iranian living in US but somewhat disconnected from Iranian community here and in Iran. Although just like any other Iranian I hope for a free democratic Iran but I have to admit reading all the above posts, I find kambiz’s comments logical. Unlike some others I don’t see him a Mullah supporter, even see him against them but his realistic approach makes sense. This new movement reminds me the march of the Mujahedeen to Iran in mid 80’s at the end of Iran and Iraq war which ended up murdering and jailing almost all of them and even some of their relatives.
Now don’t get me wrong, this is a different concept and maybe a peaceful one. But having some knowledge (just like most of you) about the powerful mullahs and their greed for power and the fact that majority of Iran’s population close their eyes and follow these people, it will be difficult, not impossible, to run these mullahs out of the stage without a fight. Unfortunately they (Mullahs) have always taken advantage of Iranian people’s religious beliefs and manipulated them through out the years in the name of religion and God. Now when I say majority of Iranians I am not talking about many educated and secularist in Tehran and some other big cities and of course the exile and immigrant community outside of Iran, I am referring to majority (in Numbers) who are mainly rural and small town and mainly with lower educated population whom are often underestimated when it comes to supporting the Mullahs regime and as we all have seen through out the years have been the winning tool for all these elections and campaigns that Mullahs and their parties have put up. I see this to be the biggest obstacle for any secular movement to succeed in Iran. I know lot of us want to see change in Iran but understanding why we are where are may help the fact that what will be the best approach to achieve the goal of establishing democracy in Iran.
Iran’s regime is extremely sophisticated and powerful government with strong ties with other powerful countries, contrary to popular belief. They know tricky, fox smart and ruthless and have no merci for their opposition and will do whatever in their power to keep the power. The movement need to start from inside of the Iran and should include education as its main tool.
I will eagerly follow the October 1st deadline and this board.
    Regards to all of you,
    Hamid

  43. Kambiz says:

    Thanks Hamid,

As you (probably) know many Iranian call me Mullah lovers/Malijac and so on. Bus facts remains the same that I’ve never Voted, Never stand and watch someone beaten in town squires for any reason, Never went to musk and never cry or show any emotion or respect to Imams and prophet Mohammad. I believe in “Kerdare Neek, Raftare Neek”. I don’t believe in Dr. Yazdi but I believed in Dr. Mosadegh and how his followers left him because Shah was offering better deal (Including my own father). Is Dr. Yazdi another Mosadegh? I don’t think so. “Bearone godeh va migeh lengesh con”. Believe what you want to believe but don’t speak from all of us.

P.S. Boy, I sounded like Andy Rooney! LoL

    My 2 cents

Looking forward to hear from all you Freedom fighters…

  44. nazanin says:

    my dear kambiz,

i know that u are perfectly right … unfortunatly iranians never supports themselves and they think that they are the best…. i have to admit it… its the truth… i nerve said ur a mullahs son… u might be or not.. its ur choice…. but if u are a true iranian then… you should maybe think a little bit more positivly…and u as an iranian try to support ur “hamvatan”… i mean Yazdi might not be our “saver” but maybe with the encouragment of the iranian people ( and not only the ones living in iran) maybe we could make something happen…u never know… anyways dont try to think badly about iran…

ohh and by the way : no i dont live in iran, and i have never been either… thats really sad i know… but its my biggest wish.. but still it doesnt mean that im not in touch with whats happening in iran… i love my country…

and thanks for explaining me what does ur “2 cents” mean… lol . Looking forward to hear from u kambiz…

This is all coming together, Kerry beat Bush in deabte tonight and tomorrow a Bush military show down will wash all Kerry’s hope and flush his momentum down to toilet! havent we seen this before? Republicans are the best at it, just think about a little war arounf Iran with Isreal and US involved, what would it do to the presidential campaign, here we go a big possibilty of October Surprise. Just lets hope that Iranian people are safe in middle of all this.

  48. Kambiz says:

    Nazanin,

My general negative view of Iranian is solely political not cultural. The only time Iran will be a free country is Iranian stop crying for “Imam Hussein” and his clans. Unfortunately these Islamic beliefs are part of our culture and roots. Presently Islamic Republic government flexing their muscles because keeps pressing on the weak spot. Anytime people get pissed at something they start a special “cinehe zany baray shohada va imamha” in order to control the situation. I know for fact that “Khal-khally”, he who killed thousands of innocent people said I did it because “Imam” told me to do so, and lots of people (who hated him) prayed for him. The good news is, younger generation that they call them Kids of the Revolution don’t give a S*** about Islam and in few years (maybe 10-15 years) Iran become a true democratic country. After all how long these Mullahs gonna live? It’s a tree with dry roots…

P.S. You mentioned you are living out of Iran and never been in Iran? Do you mind if I ask where do you live? and Did you born there? If you don’t want to post it here you can send me a private e-mail.

    Thanks

    Kambiz
