The first question deals with Obama&#8217;s patriotism including her comment, &#8220;For the first time in my adult life I am really proud of my country.&#8221;  Whoopi Goldberg makes the case that usually, when the quote is reported or is the subject of attack, the word &#8220;really&#8221; is edited.  The original clip from Obama&#8217;s speech is shown to prove that point <strong>[05:41]<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s interesting that MSNBC&#8217;s Dan Abrams, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2008\/06\/20\/mccain-its-tough-in-some_n_108415.html\">currently promoting statements made by John McCain<\/a> that could easily be used against him as Obama&#8217;s quote has been used against her, shows what appears to be the same clip that Goldberg used but with the word &#8220;really&#8221; edited out.  Is it the same clip, if so, who did the cutting? <strong>[00:56]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" height=\"339\" width=\"425\" src=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/22425001\/vp\/25293295#25293295\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Updated: CNN reported, <a href=\"http:\/\/transcripts.cnn.com\/TRANSCRIPTS\/0802\/18\/ldt.01.html\">18 February 2008<\/a>, with a clip that includes &#8220;really&#8221;:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>DOBBS: Bill, Senator Obama&#8217;s wife, Michelle, also involved in this controversy tonight saying she is really proud of this country quote, &#8220;for the first time in her adult life.&#8221; Let&#8217;s hear what Michelle Obama said.<\/p>\n<p>(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)<\/p>\n<p>MICHELLE OBAMA, BARACK OBAMA&#8217;S WIFE: And let me tell you something for the first time in my adult lifetime, I&#8217;m really proud of my country and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change.<\/p>\n<p>(END VIDEO CLIP)<\/p>\n<p>DOBBS: What in the world do you make of that statement?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Michelle Obama says, &#8220;And let me tell you something for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback,&#8221; in the clip run by Abrams.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Michelle Obama&#8217;s 18 June 2008 appearance on The View.
