{"id":1818,"date":"2007-02-13T10:31:52","date_gmt":"2007-02-13T14:31:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karmalised.com\/wordpress\/?p=1818"},"modified":"2007-02-13T10:31:52","modified_gmt":"2007-02-13T14:31:52","slug":"a-summit-on-silence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/karmalised.com\/?p=1818","title":{"rendered":"A Summit on Silence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>PM&#8217;s lines in sand for summit: J&#8217;lem, refugees, &#8217;67 lines<br \/>\nBy Aluf Benn and Gideon Alon, <em>Ha&#8217;aretz<\/em>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/hasen\/pages\/ShArt.jhtml?itemNo=825072\">13 February 2007<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Israeli and Palestinian leaders are embroiled in a bitter dispute over what topics should be on the agenda of next week&#8217;s trilateral summit.<\/p>\n<p>The summit, involving Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, is scheduled to take place in Jerusalem on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the dispute, Rice is insisting on holding the meeting to demonstrate progress in Israeli-Palestinian relations.<\/p>\n<p>According to government sources, however, Olmert is refusing to discuss three major elements of any final-status agreement &#8211; Palestinian refugees, the status of Jerusalem and an Israeli withdrawal to the pre-1967 armistice lines &#8211; because he believes that raising any of these issues would doom the talks to failure.
