Uday and Qusay

I was shocked when yesterday there were immediate confirmations of these deaths. Then the WH vacillated, saying DNA would be required to make such an announcement. Now it seems the confirmation is ‘on’ again and it’s being touted as a great reason to celebrate.

Shouldn’t it be bad news for the Bush administration since it was Qusay who allegedly possessed all the WMD information?

I don’t think their deaths will bring an end to the attacks against coalition troops as much as I wish it were true. All of the reports I’ve been reading these past few weeks suggest the trouble isn’t coming from Baath loyalists alone and the Saddam connection has been overplayed by the U.S. coalition.

Do I doubt any information coming from these people? You bet. I question the sanity of anyone who doesn’t. I read just now the owner of the ‘palatial villa’ was a cousin to Saddam. Could the boys have been any more obvious in choosing a hideout? Maybe they were just completely stupid and dad didn’t have an extra billion or so to feret them out of the country as well?

How stupid was it for the brothers to be together, too? That also made me suspicious.

  2. Diane says:

I just read a headline on the MSN homepage that it was the ‘distant’ cousin, owner of the villa, who ‘turned them in’.

If that’s the case, why didn’t he and the military devise a way to take these two alive? Shouldn’t the priority have been to do so, since Qusay allegedly was in ‘charge’ of the WMD program?
