Undersecretary of Defense David Chu and Defense Department spokesman Lawrence Di Rita answered critics<\/a> of yesterday’s reports that the Pentagon intended to cut both “imminent danger pay” and “family separation allowances,” increased only this year, by allowing them to expire. <\/p>\n

They claimed it was the Pentagon’s intention all along to offer different ‘incentive’ packages but didn’t go into specifics about them.<\/p>\n

I suppose I have a problem with the assertion that “imminent danger pay” and “family separation allowance” isn’t specific enough. <\/p>\n

What could these “incentives” be then? Signing on for another tour? If changing the eligibility for these allowances is not a cut in benefits, what is it?<\/p>\n

I suppose a fair opinion can’t be formed until they’re more forthright about their plans which probably won’t happen until after the “leaker” is ferreted out by Homeland Security and naysayers are properly warned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
