{"id":781,"date":"2005-01-24T20:24:34","date_gmt":"2005-01-25T00:24:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karmalised.com\/wordpress\/?p=781"},"modified":"2005-01-24T20:24:34","modified_gmt":"2005-01-25T00:24:34","slug":"rummys-ss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/karmalised.com\/?p=781","title":{"rendered":"Rummy&#8217;s SS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Pentagon has admitted to sending its own intelligence teams with Special Operation forces to perform tasks that were usually handled by the CIA.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/templates\/story\/story.php?storyId=4464476&#038;sourceCode=RSS\">According to the reporter<\/a>, Rummy&#8217;s Strategic Support Teams are currently in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Bosnia but there are plans to deploy them to the Phillipines, the Horn of Africa, Somalia, Yemen and other countries.  <\/p>\n<p>The Pentagon says they&#8217;ve always had the authourity to do this.  Oversight?  If Congress reads something in the newspapers that concerns them they&#8217;re free to ask questions.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>NYT<\/em>&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.globalpolicy.org\/wtc\/targets\/2002\/0918yemen.htm\">reported<\/a> on September 19, 2002 that &#8220;hundreds&#8221; of special operations forces had been moved into military bases in East Africa, &#8220;especially in Yemen.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Strategic Support Teams <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/national\/20040223-012306-4708r.htm\">didn&#8217;t<\/a> accompany <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thomaspmbarnett.com\/media\/PaxAm.htm\">them<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lewrockwell.com\/stromberg\/stromberg66.html\">A Post-Modern Nimrod<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Pentagon has admitted to sending its own intelligence teams with Special Operation forces to perform tasks that were usually handled by the CIA.
