Have you heard about the grassroots effort to save the olive trees and land rights of the people of Jayyous? Perhaps you are already calling your elected representatives or going there yourself to help replant trees. Or maybe you are wondering how to start. We have set up an action resource to help you — and I’m writing to invite you to join.<\/p>\n
Inspired by the remarkable impact of the Rhode Island Qalqilya Alliance and with RIQA’s permission, a group of us created an online community bulletin board. It is a place to discuss action plans, share details about Jayyous, and mentor one another. It’s easy to join, just click here to register<\/a>. <\/p>\n This bulletin board talks about Fair Land Rights of Palestinian Families and focuses on specific cases that need worldwide intervention. Perhaps you have heard the story of Stone Soup, where a wise old woman invited her starving village to join her for a soup dinner that started with only a boiling pot of water and a stone. Each added the bit of food they had, and together they made a tasty dinner indeed. Well, this place is a stone soup to help save olive trees and homes, lives, and livelihoods through the goodwill and insight of all who take part in it.<\/p>\n Not only is this a place for the world community to gather, but the families and Israeli and Palestinian activists are warmly welcomed! It’s a unique environment in which the people at the center and those that support them can converse and develop action plans. Most of the forums can be read publicly (although you must register if you want to post and receive messages). This support network is moderated by a great team of volunteers (some have even managed bboards with thousands of members!), and the technology makes it easy to bar spammers.
