In yet another round of protecting George at the expense of the gullible public, the Republican-controlled Congress is claiming Bush must see things their way in immigration reform if he wants support for policies that will lead to bigger government.<\/p>\n
Obviously, the GOP isn’t really against huge government, so long as they’re the ones reaping its benefits. So what else can be behind this new-found spine<\/a> but providing cover for their popular leader as they enact tough laws against immigrants?<\/p>\n And before “adding private accounts” perhaps Republicans should revisit the criticisms of those who decried Clinton’s attempt to do the same<\/a>:<\/p>\n But like many Republicans, House Ways and Means Chairman Bill Archer (Tex.) denounced the idea that the government would manage stock market investments. “If you thought a government takeover of health care was bad,” Archer said, referring to Clinton’s failed health reform plan of his first term, “just wait until the government becomes an owner of America’s private-sector companies.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n “If more choice is the goal, let people drop out of the system.
