How dare the world stand-by year after year, moment after moment, as Palestinians are denied the ability to protect life and livelihood from extermination, stripped of all historical relevance, an equal and respected voice, and the most basic and essential of human dignities.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n CODEPINK is sending a delegation to Gaza, 5-12 March<\/a>, to coincide with International Women’s Day, to “Provide humanitarian and emotional support to women and women’s organizations in Gaza; Exert pressure on US, Egyptian and Israeli governments to lift the blockade and promote peace\/human rights in the region.”<\/p>\n Can one provide humanitarian and emotional support to Palestinian women by stigmatising Palestinian men as irrelevant, a hindrance to negotiations, security, and the restoration of civil society?<\/p>\n Really, if International Women’s Day is a day for women to wage peace, why solicit George Mitchell – where in the world are Hillary and Tzipi? <\/p>\n dignity Dignity is also being able to provide for your children, to cook for them, to give them sweets and toys even, to have a home, to have possessions, to possess the right to move freely, to be heard, to be acknowledged with the right to exist, to not be a number -a number of the dead, of the injured, of the homeless, of the imprisoned -to actually have a name and a story and a life with possibilities for a good future.<\/p>\n Almost as bad as being actively denied these things, Palestinians are denied even the true narration of their history -from their 1948 Nakba (\u201ddisaster\u201d) to Israel\u2019s murderous attacks starting December 27th. Palestinians \u201calleged\u201d that: \u2026an F-16 missile bombed their house; Israeli soldiers fired point-blank on a mother\/baby\/father\/son\u2026clearly unarmed, perhaps waving a white flag; Israeli soldiers used them as human shields; Israeli soldiers ransacked their houses, stole valuables; they were abducted, interrogated and beaten.
