{"id":3289,"date":"2008-07-15T12:06:30","date_gmt":"2008-07-15T17:06:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karmalised.com\/?p=3289"},"modified":"2008-07-15T12:12:00","modified_gmt":"2008-07-15T17:12:00","slug":"the-new-yorker-kerfuffle-so-funny-i-almost-forgot-to-laugh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/karmalised.com\/?p=3289","title":{"rendered":"The New Yorker kerfuffle:  So funny I almost forgot to laugh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hendrik Hertzberg told host Laura Flanders yesterday <a href=\"http:\/\/lauraflanders.firedoglake.com\/\">on GRITtv<\/a>, that <em>The New Yorker<\/em> staff may have been &#8220;naive&#8221; but saw nothing controversial about the editorial cartoon their magazine published this week that caricatured a Muslim-garbed Barack Obama and machine gun-toting wife Michelle fist-pounding each other whilst the American flag is burning in a fireplace with a portrait of Osama bin Laden hanging above the mantle.<\/p>\n<p>Phew!  So funny I almost forgot to laugh!  No doubt that some, like Clinton in 2012 acolyte Joan Walsh,  find it &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/21134540\/vp\/25680795#25680795\">hilarious<\/a>&#8221; to disparage around 22% of the world&#8217;s population and inflame red-hot prejudices within the context of the most ingrained, cliched misinformation one could muster to encapsulate at least 100 years of U.S. foreign and domestic policy.
