{"id":3031,"date":"2008-03-29T00:55:53","date_gmt":"2008-03-29T06:55:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karmalised.com\/?p=3031"},"modified":"2008-03-29T00:55:53","modified_gmt":"2008-03-29T06:55:53","slug":"why-the-clintons%e2%80%99-profiting-off-near-slavery-is-not-a-campaign-issue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/karmalised.com\/?p=3031","title":{"rendered":"Why the Clintons\u2019 profiting off near-slavery is not a campaign issue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Bill Van Auken, WSWS, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsws.org\/articles\/2008\/mar2008\/clin-m28.shtml\">28 March 2008<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the long run-up to the Pennsylvania primary, the Democratic campaign has descended ever deeper into a negative and personal mudslinging contest between the two remaining contenders, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.<\/p>\n<p>Broadcast news cycles have become dominated by an unending stream of barbs and accusations from each side, the most prevalent of late dealing, on the one hand, with sermons delivered by the pastor of Obama\u2019s church and, on the other, with Hillary Clinton\u2019s flight of the imagination to Bosnia a dozen years ago.<\/p>\n<p>It is curious that in this toxic political environment, the Obama campaign has steered clear of one revelation concerning the Clintons that surfaced earlier this month.
