Since 2006, when the insurgency in Afghanistan sharply intensified, the Afghan government has been dependent on American logistics and military support in the war against Al Qaeda and the Taliban.<\/p>\n

But to arm the Afghan forces that it hopes will lead this fight, the American military has relied since early last year on a fledgling company led by a 22-year-old man whose vice president was a licensed masseur.<\/p>\n

With the award last January of a federal contract worth as much as nearly $300 million, the company, AEY Inc., which operates out of an unmarked office in Miami Beach, became the main supplier of munitions to Afghanistan\u2019s army and police forces.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Trebicka: I don\u2019t want to make a deal with him, you know that he is a crook, you told me before that he\u2019s a mafia guy, didn\u2019t you?<\/p>\n

Diveroli: I think he is, either he\u2019s the mafia or the mafia is controlling him. Either way he\u2019s a problem. The problem is, I don\u2019t have a choice. I have to deal with him. The U.S. government is expecting the products. I have no decision to make.<\/p>\n

Diveroli: What\u2019s going on with the whole friggin\u2019 thing here, \u2026(inaudible conversation about Pinari\u2026.) OK, Kosta, the company that\u2019s doing the packing might want to buy your packing material, I\u2019m going to broker the deal\u2026<\/p>\n

Trebicka: Which one is the company, is it still Delijorgji?<\/p>\n

Diverolli: I have no fucking idea, we\u2019re waiting for Pinari to give us the details of this company. I will push this sale very hard to go through.<\/p>\n

Diveroli: \u2026\u2026\u2026.(Some talk about services Trebicka is still supposed to do for Diveroli.) I\u2019ve been 100% with you. I did not remove you from this job. You understand that? I have nothing to do with this. Even though Pinari asked me to, and he\u2019s forcing me to, I have never supported this decision. I\u2019m very, very upset, I\u2019m very concerned.<\/p>\n

Trebicka: Is he still working with Henry Thomet?<\/p>\n

Diveroli: I think he\u2019s still working with Henry. I\u2019m still working with Henry. I have to work with Henry. I\u2019m working with Henry.<\/p>\n

Diveroli: \u2026I\u2019m different than Henry, I can\u2019t play monkey business with the mafia and Delijorgji and all those fucking guys in Albania\u2026.. I\u2019m a U.S. company, I\u2019m working for the government, everyone is watching me. Pinari needs a guy like Henry in the middle to take care of him and his buddies, which is none of my business. I don\u2019t want to know about that business, I want to know about legitimate businesses. That\u2019s my feeling, that\u2019s my feeling on the situation, that\u2019s my idea, that\u2019s my opinion.<\/p>\n

Trebicka: \u2026.but I think with Pinari and his mafia guys and Delijorgji and Henry, it will be difficult for you to go ahead because they will create lots of problems \u2026. Probably I will be invited in Washington DC from the CIA guys and from my friends over there. .. two weeks from now I will come to Florida to shake hands with you and discuss future deals.<\/p>\n

Diveroli: I like that. Let\u2019s do that.<\/p>\n

Diveroli: I have a good deal going on in Serbia right now that I might need some financing for\u2026. Kosta, Kosta, I have an idea, maybe, you could finish packing, for example, the two and half million you owe me. And Pinari and Delijorgji will see your operation is already moving smoothly and they\u2019re not going to want to disrupt it, so they\u2019ll buy the material from you. They don\u2019t have to go around and drive to Macedonia and schlep around. Maybe this is a good idea, I think. Do you think Pinari is actually going to do the job?<\/p>\n

Trebicka: I found good partners and I think I can continue the job. I don\u2019t know about Pinari, Delijorgji and his mafia\u2026if they want to still work with me\u2026 I will not talk, I will not open mouth, I will do whatever you tell me to do.<\/p>\n

Diveroli: I understand\u2026. I\u2019m just telling you\u2026 I protect you, you protect me type of thing. Let me speak with Pinari. Pinari knows he has to do the packaging. Because he\u2019s removing you from your position, if he does not fill this position properly he\u2019s going to be in a lot of trouble, from everybody. So maybe he\u2019s going to get nervous that Delijorgji can\u2019t do this job, whatever\u2026 This is the best case, this is my dream.<\/p>\n

Diveroli: Then we need to push the sale of the material\u2026 then at least you\u2019re not exposed and I\u2019m not exposed. No? It\u2019s option A or option B at this time. We\u2019re going into one door, we\u2019re just not sure which one. Why don\u2019t you kiss Pinari\u2019s ass one more time right now. Call him up, beg him, kiss him, whatever\u2026 Send one of your girls to fuck him\u2026 Let\u2019s get him happy. Maybe he gives you one more chance to do the job. No?
