{"id":3017,"date":"2008-03-21T11:09:37","date_gmt":"2008-03-21T17:09:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karmalised.com\/?p=3017"},"modified":"2008-03-21T11:58:46","modified_gmt":"2008-03-21T17:58:46","slug":"far-right-or-too-far-gone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/karmalised.com\/?p=3017","title":{"rendered":"Far right or too far gone?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>News Hounds, a liberal website that fact checks the far right FOX News, notes that during the 19 March 2008 broadcast of his show, <em>Hannity and Colmes<\/em>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newshounds.us\/2008\/03\/20\/hannity_denies_past_association_with_white_supremacist_but_evidence_suggests_otherwise.php\">pundit Sean Hannity denied his past association with white supremacist Hal Turner<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Max Blumenthal reported [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thenation.com\/doc\/20050620\/blumenthal\">Hannity&#8217;s Soul-Mate of Hate<\/a>, <em>The Nation<\/em>, 3 June 2005] that for years, Hal Turner, a prominent activist in New Jersey&#8217;s Republican party, was a frequent caller to Sean Hannity&#8217;s radio show using the widely recognised moniker, &#8220;Hal from North Bergen.&#8221;  Hannity also contacted Turner off-air after a listener e-mailed Hannity to inform him that Turner had posted online about his cocaine abuse and homosexual trysts.<\/p>\n<p>Former Representative of Florida&#8217;s 1st district Joe Scarborough, currently the Hannity of MSNBC News, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Joe_Scarborough\">initially defended     Michael Griffin<\/a>, avowed Christian terrorist and confessed murderer of abortion doctor David Gunn, the first execution of its kind to be carried out in the United States:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Scarborough wished to represent <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Christian_terrorist\" class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Christian terrorist\">Christian terrorist<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Michael_F._Griffin\" title=\"Michael F. Griffin\">Michael F. Griffin<\/a>, later convicted of killing <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Abortion\" title=\"Abortion\">abortion<\/a> doctor <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/David_Gunn_%28doctor%29\" title=\"David Gunn (doctor)\">David Gunn<\/a>. At the request of Griffin&#8217;s family, Scarborough (who is <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pro-life\" title=\"Pro-life\">pro-life<\/a>) initially represented Griffin <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pro_bono\" class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Pro bono\">pro bono<\/a> in the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Capital_murder\" class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Capital murder\">capital murder<\/a> case. The judge refused his request to defend Griffin during the criminal trial, citing the gross inexperience of Scarborough, a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Civil_law\" title=\"Civil law\">civil lawyer<\/a>, regarding <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Criminal_law\" title=\"Criminal law\">criminal law<\/a>; having only represented 3 misdemeanors. Scarborough assisted Griffin in obtaining a trial attorney.<sup id=\"cite_ref-1\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Joe_Scarborough#cite_note-1\">[4]<\/a><\/sup><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>To what lengths will Hannity and Scarborough go for fame and\/or convictions?
