{"id":2837,"date":"2008-01-21T06:44:44","date_gmt":"2008-01-21T11:44:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karmalised.com\/?p=2837"},"modified":"2008-01-21T06:44:44","modified_gmt":"2008-01-21T11:44:44","slug":"soldiers-assault-and-arrest-btselem-worker-in-hebron","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/karmalised.com\/?p=2837","title":{"rendered":"Soldiers assault and arrest B&#8217;Tselem worker in Hebron"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Press Release<br \/>\nB&#8217;Tselem<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.btselem.org\/english\/press_releases\/20080120.asp\">20 January 2008<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Soldiers assaulted and arrested Issa \u2018Amro, a B&#8217;Tselem fieldworker, in Hebron yesterday. \u2018Amro was arrested while filming a disturbance by settlers in the Wadi Hsein neighborhood in East Hebron.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday evening (January 19), a group of settlers began throwing stones at a Palestinian home and trying to forcefully enter it. Although a large force of soldiers and police were present, they did nothing to protect the Palestinians and remove the settlers. Two B&#8217;Tselem workers were filming the incident from across the street, where they stood along with a number of Palestinians and international activists. The commander of the Shimshon battalion, a lieutenant colonel, came up to \u2018Amro and demanded that he stop filming. A group of settler women then gathered around the B&#8217;Tselem workers and two of them tried to grab \u2018Amro&#8217;s camera. A number of soldiers joined in the fray, beat \u2018Amro and then arrested him. They then took him to an army jeep and beat him again.
