{"id":2361,"date":"2007-09-11T22:04:32","date_gmt":"2007-09-12T03:04:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karmalised.com\/?p=2361"},"modified":"2007-09-11T22:04:32","modified_gmt":"2007-09-12T03:04:32","slug":"25-years-after-sabra-and-chatila-we-will-not-forget","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/karmalised.com\/?p=2361","title":{"rendered":"25 years after Sabra and Chatila, &#8216;we will not forget&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailystar.com.lb\/article.asp?edition_id=1&amp;categ_id=2&amp;article_id=85185\"><strong>Tuesday, September 11, 2007<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>BEIRUT<\/strong>: Dozens of Lebanese and Palestinians took part in a parade organized by the International Committee to Commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Sabra and Chatila Massacre on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Holding candles and pictures of deceases relatives and loved ones, demonstrators walked from the area of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Beirut&#8217;s southern suburbs to the nearby Chatila camp.<\/p>\n<p>The massacre was carried out by Israeli-allied Christian militiamen during the 1982 Israeli siege of Beirut.<\/p>\n<p>At least 800 Palestinians died in the massacre.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will not forget the Sabra and Chatila massacre martyrs,&#8221; said banners carried by many of the demonstrators.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday the committee &#8211;  made up of European as well as American, Canadian, and Philipino human rights activists &#8211; had made a tour of the South, where the group visited the Burj al-Shemali Palestinian refugee camp in Tyre.<\/p>\n<p>The delegation also visited the Southern towns of Bint Jbeil, Khiam, and Houla, where they paid their respects to residents killed by Israeli forces during the summer 2006 war.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will all work to convey Israeli atrocities to our respective governments,&#8221; said former Italian astronaut Huberto Quidoni, a member of the committee. &#8211; <em><strong>The Daily Star<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tuesday, September 11, 2007 BEIRUT: Dozens of Lebanese and Palestinians took part in a parade organized by the International Committee to Commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Sabra and Chatila Massacre on Monday.
