In my mail this morning were two alerts, one concerning the drop in retail sales which MBW posted about here<\/a>, and another that ‘consumer sentiment<\/a>‘ rose in early November above expectations.<\/p>\n

I guess you have to be an economist or a skilled poll taker to make sense of it?<\/p>\n

Reading on about the declining retail sales I came across this article<\/a> that mentions Dell. A workmate of mine recently left our company to return to her home state and is currently employed by Dell. She’s one of 700 temporary workers there, translation, works without benefits, and probably will for some time if she stays with it. In the meantime, Putnam Investments, which oversees the 401k accounts at my place, settled a securities fraud lawsuit brought by regulators on Oct. 28<\/i><\/a> that is being viewed by some critics as an example of the unwillingness of the SEC to crack down on these insider traders, including state regulators in Massachusetts and New York who will continue to investigate the company.<\/p>\n

Overtime is still under attack, it seems, since Mr. Bush has announced plans to veto final legislation protecting it.<\/p>\n
