Apparently, it is not cruel enough that children are <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/middle_east\/6939223.stm\">forced to collect water in plastic bottles from standpipes in the road<\/a>, are slowly starving due to border closures and sanctions, and people are dying due to denial of medical care.<\/p>\n<p>Impossible to say where the idea to cut-off fuel supplies to the Gaza Strip originated, but <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/middle_east\/6954120.stm\">West Bank officials who tell reporters<\/a> that the EU has done so <a href=\"http:\/\/news.xinhuanet.com\/english\/2007-08\/20\/content_6566404.htm\">due to difficulties obtaining payment from Hamas<\/a> neglect to say that Mahmoud Abbas has <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/middle_east\/6944741.stm\">worked overtime<\/a> to ensure that Hamas does not have the means to govern effectively.<\/p>\n<p>This is to be expected from Fatah, an organisation that has grown fat waging war against fellow Palestinians.<\/p>\n<p>But why has the new negotiator, Tony Blair, allowed the EU to enact this collective punishment without his usual whimper of protest?
