{"id":217,"date":"2003-11-06T07:19:51","date_gmt":"2003-11-06T11:19:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karmalised.com\/wordpress\/?p=217"},"modified":"2003-11-06T07:19:51","modified_gmt":"2003-11-06T11:19:51","slug":"question-of-the-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/karmalised.com\/?p=217","title":{"rendered":"Question of the Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Could this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2003\/11\/06\/politics\/06INTE.html?th=&#038;pagewanted=print&#038;position=\">&#8216;revelation&#8217;<\/a> be one bit of an emerging campaign connected to the possible shakeup contemplated <a href=\"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/ips\/lobe110603.html\">here<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>Update 11\/08\/03:  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.democracynow.org\/article.pl?sid=03\/11\/06\/1554213\">Amy Goodman interviewed Michael Isikoff<\/a> concerning his Newsweek version of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2003\/11\/06\/politics\/06INTE.html?th=&#038;pagewanted=print&#038;position=\">this NYT article<\/a> by James Risen.<\/p>\n<p>Goodman wonders if the story is an attempt by Perle to discredit the CIA but she doesn&#8217;t go into specifics.  Does she mean the entire agency, the agents who alerted the press that their intelligence was being twisted to serve the designs of the Bush administration, or those CIA officials cited by Seymour Hersh who <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/fact\/content\/?031027fa_fact\">&#8216;stovepiped&#8217;<\/a> only the information the Bush administration wanted to hear?<\/p>\n<p>It can&#8217;t be the entire agency, since at the time it was fractured, unless the story&#8217;s release was intended to be a bad news week distraction.  I doubt the agents who were protesting would have put him off any such meeting or if they had, he would have thought enough of their opinion to heed the advise.  That leaves those who sought to endear themselves to Rumsfeld, Cheney, Feith, Wolfowitz and the Office of Special Plans, no?<\/p>\n<p>Since Perle&#8217;s gone this far, shouldn&#8217;t someone demand he be more specific?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Could this &#8216;revelation&#8217; be one bit of an emerging campaign connected to the possible shakeup contemplated here?
