In a perfect world, the reporter would then turn to John Hagee, the subject of Posner’s report, and of Jon Basil Utley’s, “‘Dual Covenant’ Christians<\/a>,” and say, “According to Ilan Chaim<\/a>, in a frontpage story published by the Jerusalem Post<\/em> on March 1 of this year, a fellow Texan who said he has worked closely with you for the past 25 years on matters related to Israel, the Rabbi Aryeh Scheinberg told him, that you and he had convinced the Rev. Jerry Falwell to accept the theology you often refer to as, “dual covenant,” whereby Jews will not be cast into hell if they refuse to convert to Christianity when Jesus Christ returns to earth, but will go to heaven. <\/p>\n

However, in an article that he wrote, “A GRACIOUS CORRECTION OF THE JERUSALEM POST<\/a>“, published the next day, Rev. Falwell denied ever supporting dual covenant theology<\/a>. He said that you called him and told him that you had never made those statements “to the Jerusalem Post<\/em> or to anyone else,” and that you would “contact the Jerusalem Post<\/em> and request a correction.” He also said that you “indicated” to him that you “likewise” do not accept “dual covenant” theology.
