{"id":14263,"date":"2010-06-21T09:59:12","date_gmt":"2010-06-21T15:59:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/karmalised.com\/?p=14263"},"modified":"2010-06-21T11:02:04","modified_gmt":"2010-06-21T17:02:04","slug":"aid-ship-to-sail-to-cyprus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/karmalised.com\/?p=14263","title":{"rendered":"Aid ship to sail to Cyprus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BEIRUT &#8211; LEBANESE<\/strong> authorities have granted a Gaza-bound ship carrying aid and activists permission to sail to the Mediterranean island of Cyprus.<\/p>\n<p>Transport Minister Ghazi Aridi says the ship, &#8216;Julia,&#8217; is now docked at the northern Lebanese port of Tripoli and can set sail once it is cleared by port authorities there.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Aridi&#8217;s comments came in an interview with a local Lebanese TV channel late on Sunday and published in the press on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>He said the ship would be allowed to sail to Cyprus and not directly to Gaza because Lebanon and Israel were technically in a state of war.<\/p>\n<p>The ship&#8217;s organisers said on Monday they plan to sail in the next few days. The other vessel, called Naji Al-Ali after the renowned Palestinian cartoonist, will transfer only journalists. <\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>Another aid ship, Julia, is due to set sail from Lebanon to Cyprus according to Israeli daily newspaper Haaretz.
