For those familiar with the MIT linguistics professor&#8217;s wry and matter-of-fact delivery, the lecture, entitled &#8220;The Great Soul of Power,&#8221; was vintage material. <\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p>Mainstream media today contends that America is pursuing a long continuity in defending democracy around the world, one that extends back to President Woodrow Wilson. Referring extensively to U.S. interests in Latin America, Chomsky argues that America&#8217;s foreign policy is actually far more consistent in its overthrowing of democratically elected governments around the world.
