More or less.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Many consider Israel&#8217;s blockade to be on very shaky legal ground. Its status in the West Bank and Gaza is widely viewed as a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lawofwar.org\/Occupation.htm\" target=\"_blank\">belligerent occupation<\/a>, despite the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Israel%27s_unilateral_disengagement_plan\" target=\"_blank\">2005 disengagement<\/a>. Belligerent occupation is different from a true state of war and may not confer the technical right to form a blockade. Second, Sunday&#8217;s incident occurred <a href=\"http:\/\/english.aljazeera.net\/news\/middleeast\/2010\/05\/201053133047995359.html\" target=\"_blank\">40 miles off the coast of Gaza<\/a>, well outside the traditional blockade range. Finally, Israel has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reliefweb.int\/rw\/rwb.nsf\/db900sid\/MINE-85HQMN?OpenDocument\" target=\"_blank\">allegedly been firing on Palestinian fisherman<\/a>,  which is <a href=\"http:\/\/supreme.justia.com\/us\/175\/677\/case.html\" target=\"_blank\">absolutely illegal<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Five acts of piracy carried out &#8220;without harm to soul to people&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2010\/WORLD\/meast\/06\/01\/gaza.raid.eyewitnesses\/\">CNN<\/a>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Huwaida Arraf, one of the Free Gaza Movement organizers, told CNN Israeli troops roughed her up when they responded aggressively to her ship, a smaller one in the flotilla that was near the Turkish vessel where the casualties occurred.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They started coming after our ship,&#8221; she told CNN, &#8220;so we took off and they charged us also. Eventually, they overtook our ship and they used concussion grenades, sound bombs and pellets.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She said the people on her ship tried to keep them off. She said they were told the vessel was American and the people aboard were unarmed.<\/p>\n<p>But, she said &#8220;they started beating people. My head was smashed against the ground and they stepped on my head. They later cuffed me and put a bag over my head.
