They were arrested and broken out of prison by British troops, at least one<\/a>, possibly two tanks set ablaze by Basra citisens. It’s believed 150 prisoners also fled the jail<\/a> breached by the tank.<\/p>\n

Whatever the Brit soldiers were doing they clearly didn’t want the Iraqi police finding out coz they sent in a couple of tanks to break them out of jail. I didn’t know the British army ‘did’ cowboy movies. In any case those Shi’a Supremacists foiled them in their dastardly way. They even had the gall to set a couple tanks on fire.<\/p>\n

An Iraqi official said half a dozen armored vehicles had smashed into the jail, the Reuters<\/em> news agency reported. The provincial governor, Mohammed Walli, told news agencies that the British assault was “barbaric, savage and irresponsible.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Mohammed al-Abadi, an official in the Basra governorate, said the two men looked suspicious to police.<\/p>\n

“A policeman approached them and then one of these guys fired at him. Then the police managed to capture them,” Abadi told reporters.<\/p>\n
