Russia Formally Recognizes Abkhazia, S.Ossetia

President Medvedev said he had signed a decree recognizing the independence of Georgia’s two breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

“Russia calls on other states to follow this decision,” he said. “This is not an easy choice, but this is the only possible way to save people’s lives.”

    Why shouldn’t the rest of the world support the independance of Abkhazia, and South Ossetia. Sure given the fact Russia did invade Georgia. But Russia had warrent to do so if Georgia did begin a crack down. Let us also not forget the United States also supported the break away republic of Albania. Which I might add was a dumb idea. Muslims everywhere recieved an invitation to form thier own country from already existing ones. Back to the point if we supported Albania then why not Abkhazia, and South Ossetia?

    The U.S. respects borders when it serves its interests, tears the rest asunder and feasibility is no longer a component of decision-making but its empire building credit card will keep working so long as there’s a brisk market for its weaponry and “security” toys?
