U.S. pulls the cover off the democracy hoax

Gareth Porter on how the U.S. has come out of the closet on its efforts to cripple the Shiite gov’t by backing the Sunni resistance.

“We are saying, if you choose the wrong candidates, that will affect U.S. aid,” Khalilzad said.

U.S. military spokesman Rick Lynch declared, “The local insurgents have become part of the solution.”

Shi’ites, kiss democracy goodbye. Say hello to your past.

  1. Astute observation. The real question is: can democracy facilitate peace anywhere? As the Holy Spirit’s messages point out on the Christian Prophet blog, democracy is a system of conflict. It always leads to political factions fighting against each other. Democracy does not teach peace. It teaches attack and defense.

  2. Diane says:

What’s going on in Iraq, Haiti, and everywhere targetted by the U.S. “export democracy” campaign bears no resemblance to the ideals of a process of which I too remain a sceptic. But it can hardly be blamed for the misery and devastation rampant in these areas.

Even more pathetic is the idea it exists in America. Have you seen the slate of wannabe presidential candidates the Democratic party is pushing? This is not democracy. It’s oligarchy.
