It seems to me that healthcare ought be treated as a RIGHT rather than a privilege. Remember “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”?
Liberty is so valued as a right that people — whether US citizens or not — are entitled to a lawyer at taxpayer expense if they cannot afford one, if their liberty is at risk. Is not life as valuable as liberty?
Citizens do not have the right to end their life; it is illegal to commit or assist suicide.
So where is the imperative to preserve life? It is in universal, single-payer government-run health care.
With liberty, and justice .. and Medicare .. for all.
Where is the Right-to-Life crowd when you need them?
