In response to the recent escalation of violence in Israel and the shredding of any remaining remnants of his road map for peace, George called for the freezing of Hamas assets.
According to Slate, the move described in this NYT’s article is purely a symbolic gesture since most of the funds listed here fall outside the U.S.
“Hamas’ leaders and those who provide their funding again have the blood of innocents on their hands,” U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow stated. “Empty words cannot wash them clean.”
Why not, Mr. Snow? Empty words seem to be what this administration thrives upon.
Why did the Bush administration even bother going to the UN knowing full well another ‘resolution’ that did not include a sharing of future decision making, translation, a sharing of the bootie, would be repelled by the same countries who resisted this occupation from the beginning?
In the meantime, people die every day, including the innocent.
